Terms of Service
Last updated: August 2026
These terms apply when you book or attend sessions at Artplay. By booking, you agree to them on behalf of yourself and your child.
Artplay is not therapy. Artplay is an expressive arts studio providing creative, play-based enrichment sessions for children and teens. We are not a licensed medical, psychological, or behavioral health provider. We do not diagnose, treat, or provide therapy for any condition, and our sessions are not a substitute for care from a licensed professional.
What we provide
Artplay provides one-on-one and sibling expressive arts sessions for children ages 4 through 18. Sessions use art materials, sensory materials, building materials, and play to help children build confidence, communication skills, and self-efficacy.
Our helpers are qualified, experienced people who work with children. They are not acting as licensed clinicians when providing Artplay sessions, regardless of any credentials they may hold in other contexts.
What we don't provide
- Diagnosis of any medical, psychological, developmental, or behavioral condition
- Treatment, therapy, or clinical intervention
- Crisis or emergency services
- Medical, psychological, educational, or legal advice
- Documentation for legal, custody, insurance, or school placement purposes
If your child is experiencing a mental health emergency, call or text 988, or call 911.
If we come to believe your child would benefit from care beyond what an arts studio can offer, we will tell you directly and, where we can, point you toward licensed providers. That is a courtesy, not a referral or a clinical recommendation.
Your responsibilities
- You are the parent or legal guardian of the child attending, and you have authority to enroll them
- You will tell us anything we need to know to keep your child safe — allergies, medical conditions requiring attention, mobility considerations, or anything else relevant
- You will provide accurate contact information and keep it current
- You or an authorized adult will drop off and pick up your child on time
- You will let us know if there are custody arrangements or pickup restrictions we need to observe
Sessions, scheduling, and payment
Session types, prices, membership terms, cancellation rules, and rescheduling are described on our Session & Cancellation Policy page, which forms part of these terms.
Payment is due at or before the time of service. We accept credit and debit cards, and HSA or FSA cards where your plan administrator permits the expense — determining whether your account permits it is your responsibility.
We may require a payment card on file to hold a session time. We will disclose any charge before it is made.
Behavior and safety
Artplay is a shared space used by children. We ask that families treat our helpers, other families, and the studio with respect.
We may end a session early, or end a family's enrollment, if a child's or adult's behavior creates a safety risk to themselves or others, or if the studio is not an appropriate setting for a child's needs. We will always try to talk with you first.
Photographs and artwork
Your child keeps the artwork they make. With your permission, we photograph artwork and share it with you after sessions. Our standard practice is to photograph artwork only, not children.
We will not use any photograph publicly without your separate written permission, which you may withdraw at any time.
Some Artplay clients choose to sell items they make through our in-studio store. Participation is optional, and children keep 100% of proceeds from their own items.
Text messages
If you opt in, we will text you about your sessions. Message and data rates may apply; frequency varies. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help. Details are in our Privacy Policy.
Limitation of liability
Artplay provides enrichment sessions, not clinical care, and makes no guarantee of any particular outcome for your child.
To the fullest extent permitted by Arizona law, Artplay's total liability arising out of or relating to these terms or your child's participation is limited to the amount you paid Artplay in the twelve months before the claim arose. Artplay is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for gross negligence or willful misconduct.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Arizona. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Maricopa County, Arizona.
Changes
We may update these terms. Material changes will be posted here with a new date and communicated to active families by email. Continuing to book sessions after a change means you accept the updated terms.
